Jersey Dairy is seeking twenty enthusiastic volunteers to form a new tasting panel which will meet for an informal, discussion based forum.

Their first mission will be to test and taste a brand new prototype Jersey Dairy product.

Over time, samples of all other Jersey Dairy products currently available such as yoghurts, creams, ice-creams, crème fraîche and cheese will be also tasted and compared to other similar items on sale.

The panel will be managed by Jersey Dairy’s Head of Quality, Janet Wyatt, “Jersey Dairy has always been a significant part of Island life and our recent move to Trinity is a new chapter in the era of that history. We felt that this was an appropriate time for us to launch the tasting panel so that we could involve our community in a hands on way. We have always valued the opinions of Islanders and we wanted to give people a direct opportunity to have a real impact on flavours, taste and future products. The first sample they will get to taste will be a product that has never been seen or tasted by anyone here before as it is a brand new idea. We hope that people will be excited by this and we look forward to hearing from anyone interested in taking part soon.”

The new tasting panel volunteers will meet every other month at Jersey Dairy where, under the guidance of Head of Quality, Janet Wyatt, they will taste a range of product samples to gauge opinions and benchmark them against similar items on sale. Each meeting is only expected to take around an hour and half to two hours a session. Volunteers can be anyone over 18 who can make a regular commitment to meet every other month.

Volunteers will also go on a tour behind the scenes at Jersey Dairy, so that they can see the production process in action. There is no payment for taking part in the tasting panel, but volunteers will receive samples of dairy products to take home with them each month.

Jersey Dairy hopes to have enough volunteers to hold the first tasting panel meeting in February.
